Failure is Part of Success 3 Takeaways from “Permission to Succeed” Podcast

JConnelly was built on the philosophy: learn from your failures and turn them into successes. Our CEO Jenn Connelly shares our firm’s history and her entrepreneurial story on iris’s podcast “Permission to Succeed” during MarketCounsel’s 2019 Summit. Jenn shares insights on the industry and discusses her guiding principles on becoming an entrepreneur. Here are the three takeaways from her interview:

1. Public Relations is Evolving

Jenn explains how public relations has changed throughout her career. Today, PR is all about integrated communications and marketing, managing perceptions and protecting your brand. Public relations has evolved and people need to be agile and embrace change with industry trends to stay relevant and provide the best outcomes for your clients.

2. Create the Right Culture

Jenn attributes the success of JConnelly to creating the right culture. She supports this notion by hiring not only talented individuals but good people. In addition, Jenn believes in work/life integration and providing a work environment where individuals can collaborate and think creativity together while still enjoying and prioritizing their personal life. When the right people come together with aligned missions and visions, trust forms and excellent work is produced.

3. Learn from Your Mistakes

Jenn believes that she became the entrepreneur she is today by learning from her mistakes and everything else she’s experienced. While failing is never fun, there always is a lesson to be learned. Jenn is very mindful of her purpose and aligns with her own heart, soul, mind and gut to make decisions, to serve people and to be a better human. When you are passionate about what you do, you are bound to succeed but there will be hiccups along the way. It’s when you embrace those hiccups and learn from your mistakes that success will happen.
